This week both my parents had taken some more time off work to spend at home so I actually got to go out a bit more than I have done recently, so I thought I'd just blog a bit about my week. Friday My mum and my sister both took me to physio in Stanmore and I had a really good session. My knee is slowly getting stronger because of my Hypermobility but it still was a positive day! Then Jake got home late that evening and we watched Dark Places. I must say, the book is 10x better similarly to Gone Girl. (They were both written by Gillian Flynn.) Saturday Jake and I went out for breakfast at a local cafe where I live. I had scrambled eggs and he had a breakfast baguette which was nice. After eating we took the bus into Southend, it felt so odd getting a bus and not being able to drive! We both brought a few bits before coming home for a TV night in. Sunday Jake and I went to his house to see his parents. Jakes mum cooked a lovely roast gammon dinner, it was much needed. I hadn't had a roast in ages. We all sat and watched the Maze Runner and Insurgent after dinner. I quite enjoyed both of them, although I did prefer Divergent. Monday My parents and I took the train to London to see my consultant. After that we went shopping which I spoke about in my previous post! We had had some good news from the doctor so I felt a shopping spree was deserved haha! Tuesday FINALLY after 5 whole months I got my hair cut and blow dried and I feel so much better after it. I hadn't been able to go because of being slightly house bound after my op but now my hair feels so much better. It had got so heavy because it is so thick. Wednesday Well today is the day that GBBO is on and I'm well looking forward to watching it. Although I have just heard that Mary Berry accidentally spilled who was leaving tonight's episode on her Radio Interview, hopefully I'll be able to not see that. Other than bake off my Dad is out in the garden laying a patio, my mum has taken my little sister and her friend shopping, Megs is at work and so I am just sitting on my laptop organising Jakes 21st birthday present! What a good girlfriend I am😇😂 Ooooh and I watched Jurassic World and loved it - it's a good film I reckon. Thursday We are all off round my Aunties house for some lunch today which will be nice. We don't see them very often as my cousins have a different term time to my sisters and I have a completely different one altogether. Im quite looking forward to seeing them all. So I'm home now and we had a lovely lunch followed my lots of chocolate cake - not great for my diet but it was nice to catch up! Friday Jake is home again this weekend, then goes back till Wednesday and then is home until the end of September which is good! I'll be seeing him tomorrow as tonight I am at home having dinner with my Nan and family. We're having homemade lasagne which I know will be great! So that's my oh-so-exciting week hahaha!! See you soon, Leanne x Why Hello there😀 I got a bit of good news in regards to my operation yesterday! My parents and I travelled up to London to meet my consultant for a check up and we were met with a positive outcome. Basically everything has gone as well as it could have gone as my knee is staying in the correct position when going from bent to straight. My parents were shocked that I had even let the doctor touch my knee after the many times I would cry and tense up beforehand. Funny how with one thing, anxiety can go. Anyway, I don't have to have another trip to London for another 6 months unless I need to chat to my doctor so I am incredibly happy and pleased that stage one is coming to an end in terms of hospital visits. I still need to go regularly to Physio and continue to exercise my muscles as my Hypermobility makes building muscles and healing scars a longer process to those without Hypermobility. Onwards and upwards though, I say! Oooooh on our way home from London, I convinced my parents to stop off at Westfields for a short shopping trip. I ended up treating myself to a pandora heart safety charm and a Mac lipstick🙈 how cheeky haha. I am in love with the lipstick, it's the Cremesheen Hot Gossip - it's like a lipstick with a glitter sheen through it. I LOVE IT. I just felt like I could justify a small spend on something nice after all this fuss over my knee. Plus it makes you feel happy going shopping and picking out something nice. Before we actually went to the hospital appointment, we went for lunch in Pizza Express as we had just over an hour to spare. When we are going on the train to London, I like to have plenty of time to spare because of the stairs and I prefer to take my time. So, we managed to have a quick, yummy lunch! Mum and I had the "Bosco" salad with chicken - I'm sure that's what it's called. My dad had a Sloppy-something pizza which had spiced beef and some other stuff on. Oh and we also shared some Doughballs, I do love those.😍 I'll be posting again soon about how I feel I've come over the past few months as I'm hoping that other people who have had similar experiences may like to read how I have felt. Anyway, let me know if there are any MAC products that you are loving at the mo and if you like my new pandora buy! Follow me on Instagram - leannedunnage Follow me on Twitter - @LeanneOnLife See ya soon, Leanne xo Greetings from Portugal☀️ As you can see...I am on my holidays!! I'm writing this as I lay on my sunbed in the lovely 34 degree heat. This is the life. It was our first proper day here yesterday and the place we are staying in is so big. There is a pool and it's not too far to get to the beach and strip. Well, it doesn't take too long to get there for fast walking, crutchless bodies but me? Not so much. Jake and I enjoyed a cooked breakfast at an Irish bar near the villa with his family and friends then we ventured on further to the strip with full bellies and a mindset of buying a few presents. I think we were quite successful until we had completed our spree and followed a sign for "taxis" which led us down a steep, dead-ended hill. I was stressed because of the hill so I must admit that I was getting slightly annoyed and anxious to get back to the pool. Luckily the car journey only lasted about 5 mins👍🏼 In other news I moved out of my first year uni house on Wednesday for good. Ya know, just the usual collection of the last few boxes, a quick clean and handing over the keys to the place I met some wonderful friends. It did feel really weird knowing that the first university year is over when I feel like I have hardly even been there. Anyway, I'm exciting for September to start year 2 with my pals in our new house so it is all good😀 I also spent time packing and sorting out some of my belongings in my room. After I had my operation I really didn't have the motivation to sort all of the stuff I had brought back from uni at Easter so it was all piled up. I think my mums pretty happy that it's been done now. So, that's just about it for now. I need to go have a shower and get ready to go out for some dinner (not tea as my northern friend, Charlotte calls it)😉 Leanne x It was only a couple of blog posts ago that I was moaning about my lack of regular posts and here I am about to do it again. Hello Earthlings. I hope you are all well and enjoying this lovely British weather....NOT. Ever since I got back from holiday, the weather has been getting worse and worse, which definitely is making me miss the 35 degree heat. Anyway, first off I should be saying sorry for my inefficient publishing. To be honest, once I got back from holiday, I was questioning whether to carry on writing a blog. I love writing and this was a way for me to write about different topics, but I wasn't really sure if I was actually getting an audience. I mean, the blogs I read get a lot of viewers because they are written by well known Youtubers or celebrities, so I knew I'd never be that interesting, but I'd still like to be writing something that people (other than just my parents) enjoy reading. So yeah, enough excuses...sorry! Sunny Summer Break Jake and I went away for a week to Portugal with his parents and another family. It was lovely and a much needed trip away. I had been focusing on being able to walk properly without my brace and getting used to exploring outside my house again., so the date we were leaving was my goal. We stayed in a huge villa in Montechoro - a place near Albuferia. I am always useless with place names but that is no surprise as I hated Geography. The villa was lovely though, with its very own pool and outdoor kitchen/BBQ and it was close walk to the beach and strip. Jake and I were getting Taxis a lot of the time though as I couldn't always walk to wherever we were going and back again. I'd always be too tired or my knee would swell. One Taxis ride was particularly memorable as we swore that Vin Diesel was driving us, he was the spitting image of him (apart from the huge muscles) but he even had the same deep voice.
Harvester Fun
I don't know why, but I just love the Harvester salads. If I could go in there every lunchtime just to have a salad, I would. Oh the small things, aye?! Before Jake went back to university placement last Sunday, we went for a meal in the Harvester and then I went again with my parents and youngest sister, Holly yesterday. I had the Original Combo which had chicken and some ribs (fatty!!) and it was sooooo good. I just really like a Harvester haha. Righto, I should probably end this post here otherwise I'll be rambling on forever. I hope you have a nice Sunday and I'll be back in a few days to tell you all about my progress with my knees. I tell you, thats one good thing about writing a progress update on my blogs, as I can actually compare what I was like pre-op and what I am like now! Ciao, Leanne x Happy Tuesday!
Hello hello hello. How are you all? I hope you're well. First of all, I feel like an apology is needed. I said that I would start to post regularly, about different topics but I have FAILED. I know, I know, it's bad of me, but to be honest, I feel that spontaneous and random posts are more appreciated. Some people get bored easily of the saaaaame thing over and over again. Plus, I feel like I have more freedom in what I can post when I do so less frequently. So...anyways...let's get back down to business. What have I been up to this week? ...Hanging out with Jake. i sound so cool. He came back from his work experience and is home for six whole weeks so it's been nice having time together ...Went out for a Sunday pub lunch for the first time since my op. It was lovely but they had NO SUNDAY ROASTS. Well they did but they run out in the "first half hour" apparently. Well, PREPARE MORE OF THEM I say! Especially because roasts are one of my favourite dinners in the whole entire world. ...I had my second physio trip on Thursday and both my physio and I are very pleased with the amount of progress I have made so far. I'm nearly back to what they call 'full range' of movement in my knee which is great so now I have to start building up the muscles in and around my knee. It is easier said than done to be completely honest, but hopefully they'll be really strong before we know it. ...Started to watch Orange is the New Black Season 3 and I must say that the first few episodes are on the boring side (don't shoot me!) but I am going to keep watching as all the comments I have read about it are very positive. I'm hoping that the rest of the season is more exciting. ...sorted all of my room out. Ya know, all that stuff that you keep because it is too sentimental to throw out but you've got no where to actually put it. It's very tidy right now. ...SUNBATHING. And I'm actually getting a tan! It's quite shocking for me but I'm not complaining :D WAHOOOOOOO! 5 weeks have gone. They have finally passed. It feels like such a long time ago now, that I was wheeled down the steep slow at the Royal Nationaly Orthopaedic Hospital to theatre. That in itself was an experience and a half. The ward that I was on was almost at the top of the hill and to get to surgery, there was one man standing in front of my bed who stopped me from rolling on down with his body weight and one guy behind, holding the bed back. Can you imagine if I had been too heavy and the guy in front couldn't of taken the weight so I just zoomed down to the bottom of the hill?! So my next physio appointment is tomorrow, back in Stanmore. They did ask if I wanted to go to a hospital closer to home but I've been to both of the hospitals near me several times and they have been far from worthwhile. I'm hoping for good news as you can expect. I personally feel that the exercises are slowly progressing as I definitely feel more confident and stable on my feet. The only exercise I have been hating is one that is similar to a mini squat. It terrifies me, I really don't like it. I think it's because of the amount of pressure I feel I have to put on my knees to do it, hopefully I'll master it soon! One thing that I am really anxious to see is the difference between my right and left knees. Once the swelling had completely gone I'm sure I'll be able to see properly but when I go back to see my consultant, I'm hoping to see a before and after X-ray. I'll try and take a picture if I can!! I'll let you know how it goes in next weeks blog. Plus, as next week is my 6th post op, I may have found out what my consultant thinks has resulted from the procedure. Should be interesting😀 Leanne x Heeyyyyaaaaa my friends. I hope you are having a fabulous weekend😀 I certainly have had quite a busy one in comparison to the last 4. Well Friday night wasn't very busy, the most I did was do my mums hair for her night out, watch TV and YouTube videos all night😂 doesn't that sound like a very exciting social life I am living as a 19 year old!?!? Saturday however, was quite adventurous. My dad drove us to a place in Hertfordshire where the company he works for had organised a fun day for all of the employees and their families. It was held at a place called Tewin Bury Hotel I believe (or something along those lines) and we had actually been there a few years ago for a family wedding, so we knew it was a nice place! The fun day included loads of food&drink, bouncy castles, a bird display, face painting, donkey rides and all that jazz, so you can be sure that I done A LOT of walking. It was actually a pretty big day for me as it was the first day I had actually been "out out" as I like to call it - a place which does not include a friend or families house 😉 All in all though, the venue was lovely and does host gorgeous weddings so it would be one I would recommend. Plus they have on site accommodation for those who can get their hands on it! Sunday/today, is a very lazy day. I couldn't believe how tired I got after yesterday so it is safe to say that I had an extremely long lay in. To be fair I did keep waking up, so I needed those extra hours! It's roughly three weeks till I go to Portugal with Jake so my healthy eating is really being tested out. Because I got up late and I know that we are having a bbq later I've only had fruit today - hopefully I can hold out till later. I must say that I am really craving chocolate though😁 on the subject of holidays, I'm not sure whether to book an airport transfer for the way home. We are sharing with others who we are staying with on the way there but our flight is at a different time to the other s on the way back and I don't fancy sitting in an airport for like 8 hours!! Would you recommend booking one or just paying for a taxi ride?! So that's all for now, my life isn't at all hectic at the mo, have a good week! Leanne x Sorry lads, but this one is more for the women, or those of you who like to wear make up... |
