Afternoon people. I feel like I need a good, old, smiley face emoji to be put there. Just to make it look like I bid you a nice afternoon and not a horrible one. Oh, I'm rambling. Back to the nitty gritty. It has been beautiful, weather-wise this weekend in Canterbury, so to make the most of the sun, my housemates and I went to the beach! Well, not all of my housemates went, but the people that I am living with for the next two years went, so it was like a Uni-Family trip. T'was cute. I do love the beach. In Essex, I live about a 20 minute car drive from Southend, so it felt very homely in Herne Bay (that's where the nearest beach to us is.) So, after a 20 minute bus ride, we had hit the coast. It was pretty busy when we arrived, probably because it was the nicest weather that it had been all year, and everyone wanted to make the most of it. As a typical family, we strolled along the pebbled sand, taking selfies and watching the guys, Josh and Mark, skim stones into the water. They weren't too bad, well Mark tried his best. (hahaha!) After our walk to the end of the pier and back, we saw the Arcades across the road. Everyone who goes to the beach has to go in the arcade. It's a must. Whilst not paying attention, we ended up walking into the 18+ only section which mean't us all being asked for ID. Even after being let in, we chose to be in the younger section, winning to rubber ducks on the 2p machines. We were pretty successful to say the least. Our little beach trip finished with a meal in a local Wetherspoons and a huge 99, although it wasn't actually 99p might I add, but £1.60! I still can't believe it. Ah and then when we all got home, we sat on the sofa and watched Pitch Perfect. I think that is literally a perfect Saturday. |

Hey!! I thought that I would have the pleasure of telling you all about my amazing birthday. It was only a week ago so I am sad that it is all over. I can tell you one thing though, I never thought my 18th birthday could be beaten but my 19th was made to be pretty special.
Jake came to visit me for a week at my university so that we could celebrate my birthday and spend some time together. We had last seen each other on Valentine's Day so it was especially nice to be wined and dined on my birthday, as I wasn't able to see my family till the day after. We went to Pizza Express - I do love that place, most of all their doughballs. I had a pesto chicken and mushroom, gluten free risotto which sounds like a mouthful but was pretty tasty! Awwwwwwwwwww and did I mention that my housemates are the best? CRINGE but insanely true. They all let their creative sides come out to make me a board titled "19 Reasons why we love Leanne" as well as a glittery wine glass and a personal goody box full of all things girly. Eyelashes, nail varnishes and chocolate. What more could a girl need? I never had expected anything so thoughtful. They are so lovely. My parents and sisters travelled down from Essex to spend the weekend with Jake and I. Whenever they come to Canterbury, we always end up shopping and having a few drinks in the old pubs. This weekend though, we went to the Cathedral. We had said that we always wanted to see what it was like and so this weekend we got the chance. It's a pretty amazing building. My Dad was especially surprised when I told him that my graduation (fingers crossed) will be hosted here. I think that is cool. Oh and I got lots of cake! I'll have to ask my Mum for the recipe for the giant strawberry mountain she made me. It was lovely and you will love it! See you soon for some more goss, Leanne x Woooooooo! I have made it to posting time. But now I need to decide what to post about. How do people find talking about their lives to social media so natural? I'm worried that mine will be boring. No, I am going to just get on with it. Try and be natural. I'm going to start by telling you why I decided to create a blog. It was my Mum's idea to be completely honest, so if this does becomes successful, I won't be able to take the blame. So, in about a months time I will be having the first of two operations to fix a set of dodgy knees that I was given at birth. Not to blame my parents or anything. I have bilateral dislocation of both patella. Which to you and me means that both of my knees dislocate outwards, whenever they feel like. Walking. Running. Turning. Sleeping. Going to sit down. ANYTHING I do can result in my knee going POP. It sucks. Not trying to gain sympathy votes or whatever but I cannot actually explain the pain to somebody who has not experienced it. Not that I want anyone to. I first found out that my knees were dislocating at the age of 12 I believe. After years of believing that my knee was just "twisting", or according to my GP it was down to "growing pains" I never really knew why or what was happening. I remember that day that I found out so clearly. All of my family had gathered at my Uncles house where the kids were playing a simple game of cricket in the garden. I turned to pick up the ball and OUCH. I collapse. My dad rushed me to the hospital where after a 4 hour wait I was sent home in a cast that kept my leg straight. The only good thing about it was that I was able to take it off to shower but my knee was so stiff that sometimes it was just easier keeping the cast on. Anyway, lets cut the long story short. I never really got any help until about a year ago. (I've just turned 19) I was referred to a specialist Orthopedic hospital where I was told that hypermobility, and the physical structure of my hips, and knees were causing my dislocations. That day came with such relief. Especially after I was told that they could actually do something to help me. Even if they can't cure it, help is better than nothing. So with the thought of 2 operations coming up and up to 6 months recovery time being suggested. I wanted to find something that I could do, whilst sitting down, to not get bored. My boyfriend, Jake said that a brand new colouring book and pencils would keep me happy. Which is probably true but Mum suggested that a blog could help pass the time. And here it goes. Post 1 of who knows how many. Wish me luck. Leanne x So it was Wednesday evening when I got out of a nice bubble bath to be greeted with my parents excitement over a holiday they literally just booked. We are going to Majorca ✈️ on SATURDAY. It was three days away!!! In the meantime, Jake was planning on coming home from uni for the weekend so we spent the two days together whilst my family were frantically buying last minute bits. We did have a nice two days. It's always great to see each other after being apart for a few weeks. Now I'm off on holiday and he is back to uni for another two weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to visit him next time - the main reason I haven't is just how worried I get about travelling alone on the train. I'm getting more confident walking about now but train stations are usually sooooooo busy and I'm not particular keen on the tube either😂 ................. Now I'm sitting on the plane which was supposed to leave at 7 but isn't going to for another hour and half. How annoying! I wish there was a way you could find out if your flight was going to be delayed so that I wouldn't have to get up so early. Anyways, sorry this is a very short and non-exciting post but I'm off on holiday....again🙊 I'm baaaaackkkk...again. Back from my second holiday this year - which actually was an incredibly spontaneous trip. My parents had booked a week away to Mallorca, whilst I was in the bath, oblivious to the world around me. I hope you are having a nice summer by the way, let's hope that we actually get some decent sun in England in the next few weeks though. I would like to keep my tan topped up, don't you know?! Well the holiday was different to what we usually go on. As I am from a family of 5 we tend to stay in villas where we cook our own food or go out to various different restaurants but on this holiday we went to an all inclusive hotel, as that was the last minute deal my parents could find. Our hotel was "HSM Canarios Park" and although I had a really nice time there, enjoying the sun and relaxing, I don't think I'd recommend it. It just wasn't our cup of tea - there was the same food options everyday, the pools were very very very busy, the rooms were basic (but they're only to sleep in) and the toilets were smelly BUT regardless of that, I still had a nice time with my family. We played cards in the evenings whilst drinking as many Schnapps Slushies as I wanted, and I got to read the books that had been stuck on my shelf for months! I managed to boost the tan I was started to lose from Portugal, and we all had a nice break so I am more than grateful to my parents. Oh and although hilly to get down to the beach coves, they were still absolutely beautiful - no stones in sight! The sea was clear and blue and I had heard people talking about all the fish they could see! I wasn't actually able to go very deep because I don't have the strength yet in my knees so me and my mum just paddled - but we very much enjoyed it overall. :D
One of the really good things I was looking forward to was not just my own bed but the amount TV episodes I needed to binge watch so that I was at the latest one aired. I had Eastenders (don't judge), Pretty Little Liars (I had missed a few weeks - but OMG we find out who A is in the next one!!!!) and some other ones that have somehow escaped my mind at the moment. I have already caught up on the 2 mentioned so I'll be back to normal soon enough.
Sooooooooo, thank you Mum&Dad for our holiday, hope the rest of you have had a good summer so far and I'll chat soon, Adios Amigos x |
